On Wednesday, December 6th, the Caribbean Policy Research Institute (CAPRI), Fight for Peace, the Mona GeoInformatics Institute and the SlashRoots Foundation launched the ONECity Project. It is an ambitious new initiative to reimagine urban planning and the integration of youth into Jamaican society.
This 3-year collaborative research engagement funded by the Fondation Botnar aims to create Jamaica’s first measure of how effective communities are at meeting the needs of their residents, understand obstacles to youth development, and identify new pathways for meaningful socio-political and economic participation of marginalised urban youth.
If you are interested in urban planning or community development or are just a member of your community WhatsApp group, we’d like to hear from you. We’ll share more about this new initiative in 2024.
